We are so very lucky to live in a country that is home to some of the best fishing spots in the world! If you're a fishing fanatic at NSY Portsmouth Homes, these fishing spots might just be the right destination for your next fishing vacation.

	Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
Yellowstone’s stocked streams offer some of the best trout fishing in the United States. Or, try fishing for stunning catch and release wild trout in the rivers of Yellowstone.

	Key West, Florida
Fish in the footsteps of Hemingway, and enjoy some of the best deep sea and flats fishing in the world for gag grouper, king mackerel, tarpon and bonefish. You'll enjoy not only great fishing, but great weather too!

	Montauk Point, New York
Thought by many naturalists to be the most densely populated waters on the planet during migration season, the sea below Montauk lighthouse is a prime surfcasting spot and is home to schools of striped bass, tuna, mackerel, cod, and even some great white sharks.

	Outer Banks, North Carolina
Another migratory hotspot, the Outer Banks offers plentiful fishing from sand spits just offshore. For a different experience, charter a boat and head out to the Gulf Stream for giant trophy species like tuna and billfish.

	Ozark Mountains, Missouri
The Ozarks are the prime place to spend a relaxing day fishing for smallmouth bass, and whether you’re fishing from the shore or a canoe, the bites will be plentiful and the backdrop beautiful.

The Music Hall is one of the greatest new centers for the performing arts in the Portsmouth area. This is due in large part to the curators, who have a very clear vision of fun and experimental theatre alongside new interpretations of old conventions. The live entertainment is excellent and internationally touring bands often choose The Music Hall for its outstanding acoustics. The Music Hall runs as a non-profit arts space in its community and clearly cares a lot about its community: local actors and playwrights are featured alongside old classics. It's a great place to bring the kids, too, and get them involved in the arts at a young age. Check The Music Hall's website for the most up to date programming or give a call, make a date, and come by for a night of a uniquely flavored local culture.

Next time you're grocery shopping, get a little adventurous in the produce aisle and purchase these under-rated but truly delicious vegetables.

	Parsnips
Lighter and sweeter than a potato, this simple root vegetable is fabulous either roasted, or mashed with butter and cream. Parsnips are also great grated raw and tossed with a citrus dressing for a light salad.

	Kale
This healthy veggie is packed with iron, but is often underserved when it comes to taste. Perk up boring steamed kale with a dressing made of garlic, lemon, soy sauce, and sesame seeds. Or try baked kale chips – rinse and dry the leaves thoroughly, spritz with a little olive oil, sprinkle with salt, and bake in a single layer at 350 for 5-10 minutes or until the edges are starting to brown. This crunchy snack tastes great with any seasonings you desire like parmesan cheese.

	Radishes
Radishes not only provide a nice tang to salads and make for pretty garnishes, but they are also delicious and beautiful sliced in half and sautéed in butter or olive oil or roasted.

	Zucchini
In the late summer months, gardeners often have many large zucchinis to get rid of, and the price at the market drops to almost nothing. This is a great time to take advantage of this squash’s versatility, making breads and muffins or slow-caramelizing zucchini in oil with a few mustard seeds for a surprisingly decadent side.

	Promote Holiday Safety

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), hundreds of home fires start every year with Christmas trees, and candles cause thousands of home fires. Many deaths and injuries as well as millions of dollars in property damage are attributable to these two common holiday decorations.

Here are some seasonal safety tips you can use in safety meetings this month to help keep your workers and their families safe at home during the holidays.

	Trees

NFPA recommends these safety tips for Christmas trees: .

Select a fresh tree. Look for green needles that don't fall off when you touch or shake the branch. For artificial trees look for a label that says it is fire retardant.

.Cut an inch or two off the bottom of the trunk of live trees. This will allow the tree to absorb water better and keep it fresher, longer.

.Place trees well away from radiators, fireplaces, wood stoves, and other heat sources.

.Keep trees well watered. This means adding water every day!

.Buy tree lights that have been approved by a testing laboratory like UL. There should be a label that says so—or the box should say so.

For outdoor trees, use only lights certified for outdoor use. Never use indoor lights outside. Also make sure that extension cords are intended for outdoor use.

.Read manufacturer's instructions about how many strands of lights you can connect safely.

.Turn off Christmas tree lights before going to bed or leaving the house.

.When the holiday is over, it's time to get rid of the tree. Even a well-watered tree will start to die and dry out after a few weeks and become a fire hazard. Put the tree outside for pick up and disposal. Don't leave it in the garage or basement where it could become a fire hazard.

	Candles

NFPA recommends these safety tips for candles:

.Don't light holiday candles if you have pets or young children in the house. Lighted candles could easily be knocked over and start a fire. Use flameless candles instead for the festive look and scent.

.Never leave candles burning when you leave a room.

.Keep candles a good foot away from anything that can burn (curtains, papers, books, etc.).

.If you do light candles, make sure they are in a holder with a wide, heavy base that will help prevent lighted candles from tipping over.

.Be careful when lighting candles, making sure your clothing and hair are not going to catch fire.

.Replace candles before they burn all the way down (when there's only an inch or two left).

Right on the harbor and adjacent to the Portsmouth Fish Pier, Prescott Park offers breathtaking views along the waterfront. It's something of an urban oasis, situated just steps from the downtown area. Depending on the season, various public events and festivals are held on the park grounds, from live music to chili cook-offs. The garden is small but very well kept and full of some of the more interesting flowers of the area. The big grassy area makes for a great picnic spot, so visit Prescott Park with your entire family to enjoy the views and fresh waterside air. Although it's a relatively small park, it is right next to the Portsmouth Pier, and various facilities at the park can be reserved, too. Check the website for an events calendar and enjoy this great little park!
